blah blah blah

my life is pretty boring right now...Nothing much going on. i have my photo shoot on Thursday in wollongong and Christmas party's for work are coming up soon. i went to a Christmas party last weekend at the bondi surf club--pretty fun actually but it is so weird to see all the decorations and carolers out when its 80 degrees and sunny. im going to take some pictures of the lights in the city and the window displays too so you can all seem they--very nice. The xxxx promotion was cancelled due to lack of patronage at the bar we were at. So really i have been doing nothing since the weather hasn't been too kind these past few days--rain, rain, and more rain. On Sunday it was actually the coldest recorded day in Sydney-ever! Wonderful. Sarah and i went to see shopgirl at the cinemas--don't go. Very odd. It's one of those movies you leave and have to think about and then 2 days later go ahhh that's what that was about. i am basically home in 10 days now...i don't count the 11th since I fly all day and today is done so that leaves wed 30 Nov to 10 Dec ...10 days. WHOO HOO!!! I CAN'T WAIT!! This may be the first time I have ever been excited to see SNOW and PLAY in it! haha. And then I'm home for a week and the family goes to VEGAS...Going to be such a GREAT time!! Oh by the way i got hair extensions-I don't think i have had hair this long since 5th grade--or 1st? Can't remember its been THAT long. I'll post some pics from the shoot on Saturday--think that's when i get some back....

I don't pay attention...attention pays ME

yay for family and friends!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
I just got back from an amazing Thanksgiving dinner at Jan (study abroad director, sarah's boyfriend's mom) and Doms. Turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie!!! Many more things too which I don't eat but they were there too. Ahh SO GOOD!! It was the first true home cooked meal since July. True I cook but not like moms do. It was a really good night and I am stuffed. I even took a plate home (and I despise leftovers) and finished it off right now...SO STUFFED. Made me feel good but miss home too--can't wait to get back and play in the snow? ...
LOVE YOU ALL xx

wow

This is the second time in 3 days that I have heard I sound different. What does this mean? hmmm I'm not too sure. Last night a Russian and an Australian both said I didn't sound American. I thought to myself what does an American sound like then? Apparently not like me. The reasons they gave for this were

A. I didn't sound like Sarah and she is American
B. I don't sound like the news reporters on the Today show and
C. I have no "twang"

I had a laugh at this since Sarah is from the exact same town as I am and she has been here since Feb. To my being here since July. But apparently no I don't sound the same. Obivously if you were to listen to me I sound American but people can't seem to place it. I was asked by the Australian how many year I have lived here...5, 10, more?! Wow. No buddy, I have been here half a year. I read somewhere that certain people have a larger part of their brain that is dedicated to the sounds and communication of spoken language and it doesn't take these people that long to pick up accents or pronunciations of words. Maybe I'm one of those people. But I can't hear any change in my speech and I hear no difference between Sarah, obiviously an American, and myself, from someplace...

haha funny

ohh its getting close!!

its only about 3 weeks now until I'm home!! it's so close I can taste it -haha. not too much has been going on really. I'm doing a beer girl promotion every wed, thurs, and fri up until I leave now. Thats exciting. I'm thinking about getting hair extensions-I want long hair and I know a place that I can get it done cheap and they do a fab job. I keep using the word FAB when I write things now days---hmmmm. I also am so used to being called KIMBERLY now that I hardly respond to KIM from someone with an Australian accent. Apparently I am starting to sound Asutralian as well. I don't think so. I finally booked my photo shoot as well...looks like the 1st of December I will be a model; unless I change my mind. Next week is THANKSGIVING i'm going to Sarah's boyfriends house for it--his mum is AMERICAN so thats good. I got the job with the new agency--thus the beer girl role. YAY for ME!!

Terrorists

I have gotten quite a few emails asking me about the terror attacks/terrorists in Sydney so I thought I would make a brief comment about all of it. Tuesday early morning the Sydney and Melbourne police raided Muslim radical houses and arrested around 15 potential terrorists. The police have been watching them for the past 16 months or so and when they raided the houses they found materials that when combined would be used in such a way as the London terror attacks were. Last week the police pulled everyone off the trains at Town Hall Station (my train station) and searched around--I guess one of the terrorist they had been watching was on the train and this was for a measure of caution. The head leader was living across the harbour from me in the same town that the prime minister lives-hmmm. But everything is okay and I am safe--and nothing happened!...yet

my holiday

I just got back home from the Gold Coast. It was really nice to get away for the week-went by really fast!! Unfortunately it wasn't the best weather. Actually it pretty much sucked. It was over-cast and rained everyday but today (obivously since I was leaving today...) but I still managed to get some beach time and left with that lovely "im from the city" sunglass tan line and burn. haha. In general, the GC is pretty cool-the sand is amazing and the beach wasn't crowed at all near my hotel. The hotel itself was pretty nice and the entertainment and shopping were very good. I fell in love with this little boutique in the centre called Sex Kitten. It is the only one in Australia and the clothes are designed by a local girl in Queensland. They are the most beautiful clothes really--all hand made and very girlie. I got a few things as an early christmas present that I will show everyone when I home (29 days!!!) seriously-this is my new favourite store so you will all see the dress and top-even if it is snowing out back home!! You can check out the website www.sexkitten.com.au for some of the clothes but not the current collections instore.

I met up with my friend Jen from work and her friend and cousin while I was there-that was a great time; and I saw Jesse, the canadian guy from the shark, for a quick hello during his study break from finals. Overall the trip was fun and I would go back there-

finally feel at home

Last week I was walking to the gym and while I was awaiting the walk sign near town hall I heard someone calling out my name. I looked around real quick because I thought they must have been calling for someone else but no, it was friend Tim from work who happened to be in the city on a Sunday afternoon. I think this was the first time in 5 months that I have really felt at home. We did a short chit-chat and then went on our ways like a common occurance back home...it was good.
